“You think I’m too good for you, and I think you’re too good for me.”
“I’m off the market for a few months.”
Santa Barbara fire chief Jace Williams has found rock bottom. Suspended from work while a fatality is investigated, unable to escape dreams about that day, distant from his family, he has nowhere to turn for consolation. He just got the divorce judgement from his cheating husband, but he'll only be a single man in six months' time, thanks to California law. How did his perfect, organized life turn into this disaster?
“You boys make each other happy.”
As messy and spontaneous as Jace is tidy, Charles Bryan comes across as carefree, which is why he instantly dislikes Jace. A former self-harmer, he still needs the adrenaline rush of hang-gliding, so he teaches it and practices as a hobby, in between visiting his aging father. His dad keeps asking when he'll bring back Justin, his ex... and he's never had the heart to tell him he dumped the abusive bastard years ago. But it's easy to hide a lot with a smile, and he follows a whim into reserved Jace's arms.
“Against the odds, I like you.”
Despite their clashing personalities, they have a lot in common under the surface. Planning a wedding together gives them both something to do... and someone to tease. When Charlie's dislike of strings and Jace's reluctance to commit until the divorce is finalized give way to growing affection, neither of them know what to do. They didn't expect to find the one at the best, yet worst, possible time. Is this what real love feels like?
Aftermath is a steamy, stand-alone gay romance novel with a HEA ending and no cliffhanger.

Oh wow, Charlie and Jace. When we met Jace in the second book of the series I really hoped that Ed would eventually tell his story. And here it is.He definitely did not deserve his ex-husband. And if I did not just like his ex-husband Mike so much, I would suggest that Ed write his story as well but I really dislike him and I am not interested in reading my story.
Neither Charlie nor Jace were really looking for anyone and they were forced together because of Jace's firefighters at his station. The saying opposites attract definitely comes into play here. Jace and Charlie can’t deny there is a spark and attraction for each other but yet they are not their normal type.
And has written another lovely story and who really doesn't like super-hot and sexy firefighters? I definitely recommend the entire series.

Aftermath edition by E Davies Literature Fiction eBooks Reviews
I had been waiting for this book and I was not disappointed when it was completed. After meeting Chief Williams (Jace) in prior books and getting a glimpse of what was going on in his life, I wanted to know more. Also, after meeting Charlie and seeing how he was able to help Ash, I wanted to know more about him. Aftermath delivered! I was not only able to see the resolution of events that occurred in Jace's life, but learn more about Charlie's background. It was great to see Jace and Charlie get together and to watch their relationship develop. They seemed to provide a solid rock for each other and had calming influences on one another. I enjoyed reading their playful "I hate you" dialogue, when it was so obvious they weren't anywhere near hatred for one another.
As with other books in this series, E. Davies discussed a serious and emotional topic - actually, a couple different ones, counting Charlie's dad - with dignity and grace. This author has a natural way of making the reader feel and understand the emotions and experiences of the characters. It can't be easy topics to bleed on the page, but I feel he does it to not only enhance his stories, but educate his readers, or at least give them a little insight into something that at least one person they know might be experiencing. I appreciate it!
The bedroom (and other places, too!) scenes were amazing. The chemistry between Jace and Charlie was off the charts! It was obvious they were made for each other right from the disagreeable, but sizzling, start.
I really enjoy when a series allows me to peek in on the lives of other characters who I have come to love. Aftermath provided that also. It was nice to see what was going on with Chris, Ash, Liam and Dylan. I'll miss all six of these guys, but can't wait to see the next group of guys that E. Davies creates for me to fall in love with as well. I received an advanced reader copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
Omg another great book my a great author...so sweet I love these guys so hard. A definite must read if you like a HEA.
A slow shaky start but after that everything was wonderful . I only wish it had gone on much longer .
Of the three books I think this one is the best. The description of anxiety was pretty realistic and even though the relationship developed quickly their connection was there. Good story.
Enjoyed this one just as I have the others . From the very first book by this author I have eagerly awaited each new book. Characters are lovable in their imperfection and well developed. Story always holds your interest.
The action here felt like it moved really fast for two guys who had quite a lot of heavy emotional baggage between them. Despite that, I really liked their banter and the interesting, very non-sappy communication style they shared. Definitely a keeper.
Another amazing book from E Davies!!! Of this series I think this is my new favorite!!! I loved the back and forth between Jace and Charlie!!! It always made me giggle!!! If you like a love story without drama I highly recommend this book!!! It's a great read and I hated to put it down!!!!
